How to choose the appropriate cylinder gasket
Jul 24,2025
A comprehensive guide for selecting suitable cylinder liners, combined with key elements and operational recommendations:
1、 Core material selection criteria
Flexible black ceramic composite board
International mainstream materials, with a temperature resistance of over 1000 ° C, the best sealing and flat compensation capabilities, suitable for high-performance engines such as turbocharged/direct injection engines.
Multi layer metal gasket
Stainless steel core+rubber/fiber layer, high strength and long service life, suitable for ordinary household cars, moderate cost but ensuring a flat cylinder body.
Avoid asbestos materials
Asbestos pads have poor temperature resistance (easily exceeding the limit of 500 ° C), and compression deformation after aging leads to gas and liquid leakage, with high environmental risks
2、 Match according to engine operating conditions
High performance/new models: Full metal or black ceramic pads must be selected, with high voltage resistance and a lifespan of over 100000 kilometers;
Old style low compression ratio engine: graphite pads can be used for a short period of time, but the replacement cycle needs to be shortened by 68;
Construction machinery (such as excavators): Six cylinder machines can choose graphite or steel pads, while three to four cylinder machines can choose graphite pads.
3、 Key installation and maintenance points
Preprocessing requirements
Check the flatness of the cylinder head/cylinder block. If the depression exceeds 0.05mm, it needs to be ground 910;
Metal scraping is prohibited for cleaning the contact surface to avoid minor damage.
Installation specifications
Use a torque wrench to tighten bolt 910 2-3 times in the order specified by the manufacturer;
Metal pads do not require sealant, while asbestos pads need to be coated with high-temperature sealant 6.
Test after replacement
Observe for 7 days after startup: check for oil emulsification, coolant bubbling, and exhaust pipe smoke color 610;
Professional stress testing: If the pressure difference between adjacent cylinders is greater than 15%, it indicates seal failure
